GMO-free L.A. project

ECM is one of the founding organizations in a coalition which seeks to make L.A. a GMO-free zone.

This initiative would protect home gardens, community gardens, and urban production gardens from GMO pollution.  It would set aside 507+ square miles of land (the footprint of the City of L.A.) as a space where GMO seeds and plants cannot be grown.

The motion was introduced to L.A. City Council in autumn 2013 by Councilmembers Koretz and O’Farrell, and it is currently “in committee.”

Meanwhile, ECM is helping to gather citizen signatures on a petition which will be presented to L.A. City Council to further the motion.

Updates on this project are posted at the SeedFreedomLA website.
